Stahlbau Calendar 2011 Ebook Readers. NOT AVAILABLE IN NORTH AMERICA AND CANADA 'McQuarrie is a genius.' Harry Gray, Caltech 'Atoms First seems to be the flavor of the year in chemistry textbooks, but many of them seem to be little more than rearrangement of the chapters. It takes a master like McQuarrie to go back to the drawing board and create a logical development from smallest to largest that makes sense to students.'

Hal Harris, University of Missouri-St Louis 'McQuarrie's book is extremely well-written, the order of topics is logical, and it does a great job with both introductory material and more advanced concepts. Students of all skill levels will be able to learn from this book.' Mark Kearley, Florida State University.

What I found quite helpful in understanding the material presented is how thorough the book is. You actually discover the mechanics behind what you're learning instead of just memorizing paragraphs for the sake of regurgitating it later! For example, the author does indeed have explanations of the background of equations because without them you're just memorizing formulas by rote. I very much enjoyed the history insets of chemists (they're not even IN the main body of text as others imply) and found the examples of equation usage to be more than satisfactory. There are multiple examples of their usage in slow-motion then there are many examples for you to do yourself. I cannot STAND when other books give an equation, explain how to use it like it's a simple machine, and then you walk away without having any idea how and why the machine actually works! Gallogly was very good at avoiding this teaching error; the underground mechanics of concepts are there so you can UNDERSTAND the machine instead of just use it.
